preschool-activities Today I was looking for a letter activity to help our kids learn to identify letters and to work on sequencing them since at heart I am a reading teacher and I feel like I’ve done very few literacy activities so far this month.

I came across a site called DLTK-Kids.com. She had a really cute alphabet caterpillar activity that I thought we’d try. She’s got templates on her site that you can just print and then cut out.  You can do upper case or lower case letters. You can also make your own circles out of construction paper and write the letters of your child’s name on them and make a name caterpillar! Lots of ways to use this idea and make it your own.

I decided to print out the upper case letters and go ahead and cut them out for the boys, but you could always use this as a great scissor practice activity too. Then we put the parts of the caterpillar in order and took turns gluing him together. They really liked this activity…esp since they got to use glue sticks…and didn’t even know they were learning something! This one’s a little too big to hang on the fridge, but hopefully you can find just the right place to display your alphabet caterpillar!
