It’s been a LONG winter and I know I for one have grand dreams of a beach vacation. So I thought that I’d look around and see what fun places to visit I could find!

One place that I’d love to explore would be Puerto Rico, The All Star Island. It’s got an amazing Caribbean climate, but is still part of the U.S. so we wouldn’t have to deal with passports or exchanging money. And with 270 miles of coastline…it fits the beach vacation dream!

There’s so much to explore plus the history and culture there too…and don’t forget food and rum!

Exploring Puerto Rico

There’s sooo much to do, but I have definitely got a “must do” list if we ever get to travel there.

1. Flemanco Beach – This beach is on the island of Culebra and was recently ranked the third most beautiful beach in the world by CNN Travel.

2. San Juan – The history of the capital city dates back to the 16th century – with a few buildings still standing. And since it’s the capital, and most populous city, there’s tons to see and do.

3. Mosquito Bay – Just 7 miles off the coast is Vieques. Mosquito Bay is in the Guiness Book of Records as the brightest bioluminescent bay.

4. Camuy River Cave Park – A system of caverns carved by the 3rd largest underground river in the world.

5. El Yunque National Forest –  The only tropical rainforest in the U.S., you can hike through parts and see waterfalls, flora and fauna.

I hope that life settles down for us soon (or the kids just get old enough that it’s easier to travel with them) so that we can go and explore Puerto Rico soon.
