This is my twenty-seventh children’s book activities post in our #BookaDayinMay Instagram Challenge that I’m doing with my blogging buddies at CarrieElle.com and RockaByeParents.com.
Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters
Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters by John Steptoe is a wonderful African folk tale similar to Cinderella.
Mufaro has two beautiful daughters – one mean and one nice. One day the king calls all the beautiful women of the land to come to him so he can choose his queen. Mufaro and his daughters go. Each daughter encounters different characters along the way and treats them differently. What they don’t realize is that these characters really show more of their own character and help the king to make his decision.

3. Make a List – Talk about how Nyasha always showed kindness to those around her. Help your child make a list of ways that they can show kindness to their friends and family.
