Book Activities: Officer Buckle and Gloria #BookaDayinMay | Play 2 Learn with Sarah

Officer Buckle and Gloria

Officer Buckle and Gloria by Peggy Rathmann is a super cute book and a great way to intro a discussion about rules.

No one listens to Officer Buckle when he goes to the schools to about safety tips until he starts to bring Gloria (the new police dog) with him. Gloria acts out of of Officer Buckle’s tips behind him – without him knowing. But one day, the news films them and sees that people are really responding to Gloria and not his safety tips. He gets so upset that he refuses to give any more speeches, but then the school has the biggest accident ever!

Book Activities

1. Rules vs Laws – Talk about the difference between rules and laws and where police officers come into that.

2. True/False GameThis game will help reinforce the idea of true and false and see who well your child remembers the book.

3. Police Study – These police printables will help you practice some skills while still sticking with the theme of police.
