This is my twenty-first children’s book activities post in our #BookaDayinMay Instagram Challenge that I’m doing with my blogging buddies at CarrieElle.com and RockaByeParents.com.
The True Story of the Three Little Pigs
The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka is the classic story of the three little pigs but told from the wolf’s point of view.
The wolf spends the whole book explaining all of the events from his point of view…with his main point being that he had cold and that caused him to sneeze uncontrollably. And that he was just going to the pigs’ houses to borrow a cup of sugar and that landed him in trouble.
Book Activities
1. Writing Activity – This story is a great way to start a discussion of point of view. This story shows how fun it can be to think of an event from a different point of view. Take another classic, or just familiar story, and think of it from a different character’s point of view. Have your child draw a scene from their new story and then write, or dictate, two sentences about it.
2. Compare and Contrast – Print out this blank venn diagram and compare and contrast the original story and this version.
3. Printable Pack – 3Dinosaurs did it again and she’s got a 3 Little Pigs Printable Pack that has tons of fun activities.
