Last night I was thinking about what I could do to motivate Connor to read more. He tends to give me fits (because he has to set down his Legos to focus on a book). Then I remembered a cool FREE site I used when I was teaching.
BookAdventure.com
BookAdventure.com is a free site that has lists of thousands of children’s books. It is sponsored by Sylvan.
The site is great for helping you find books at your child’s level and that they’d be interested in. You can print out a list and go to the library and get books you know your kids will like.
Then once you read them, your child can take a 10 question quiz about the book…they are all multiple choice and fact based, but still you have to have read the book recently to get all the answer correct (as you’ll see in the video…LOL)
Then your child will earn points that can be redeemed for prizes.
In this video, I take you on a quick tour of the site and show you some of the cool features. It’s a little hard to see all of the words in the video, but I do read most of them so stick with me. If you’d like to view it in full screen mode, you can go here.
This is one of my first adventures into screencast technology…I’m still learning how to use it properly, but I think it’s really cool that I can make a video and show you how to do things!
Head on over to BookAdventure.com to sign up for your child’s free account and get start on the road to reading success!
Disclosure: No compensation for this post…I just really like this site!
