I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’ve been doing more recipes on the site lately.
Since my kids aren’t home during the day, it’s gotten harder to do activities with them and have time to blog about them too. And with life being as crazy as it is, even getting dinner on the table has been quite a struggle.
To help myself, and you, I thought I’d focus on finding and posting kid friendly recipes. If I have to blog about it, then I have to make it! And that kills two birds with one stone!
Taste of Home Kid Approved Cookbook
Another thing I’d like to focus on is getting the kids more involved in cooking with me. I admit, it totally stresses me out to have them help. They rush into the kitchen pushing chairs and swarming me. It’s crazy.
But this week I found a cookbook that has over 300 kid friendly recipes…perfect for having the kids help in the kitchen.
The Taste of Home Kid Approved Cookbook has everything from breakfast to dessert and everything in between. My kids are pretty picky and I’m thinking they will eat 85% of the recipes in this book.
I really like that most of the recipes are fairly easy and are designed for real kids…plus the pictures are all in color and super cute.
This is definitely one to keep on the shelf and use often.
Pepperoni Roll-Ups
We tried a recipe from Crunchy Munchies section of the book. This was super easy and super good!
It was also a perfect recipe to have the kids help.
I gave each 2 pieces of dough, 2 halves of a cheese stick and 8 pepperonis. I showed them how and then let them go (I think Evan’s actually looked better than mine.)
This recipe is based on one from the Taste of Home Kid Approved Cookbook/
Ingredients
- 1 can of crescent rolls
- 4 cheese sticks, cut in half
- 1 bag of pepperoni (we used turkey pepperoni)
- ranch dressing (for dip...optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Place a sheet of parchment on a cookie sheet.
- Open the crescent rolls and separate out each triangle of dough.
- Place 4 pieces of pepperoni on the wide end of each roll.
- Place the 1/2 cheese stick on the skinny end of the roll and roll it up in the dough.
- Place the roll ups on the cookie sheet in two rows of four.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until they start to golden up.
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes before eating.
