It’s that time again…the Virtual Book Club for Kids over at ToddlerApproved.com. This month the featured author is David Shannon.
David Shannon is a VERY popular children’s book author. He has lots of fun, silly books.
Evan and I have been reading A Bad Case of Stripes – a fun story about a little girl that wakes up with stripes. He is a little too young to grasp the moral behind this story…you need to be true to yourself…but he still enjoys the story.
I thought it would be fun to “paint” them and give them their own “bad case of stripes.”
So I went online and found an easy body paint recipe here.
I made up four different colors of “paint” and then called them down to tell them my plan.
THEY WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!
When I told them that I’d give them a “lima bean” (aka green Skittle) to make the stripes go away, Evan was game but Connor still refused. (Although he did want to drink the green milk.)
I managed to get a few stripes on Evan, gave him his “lima bean” and…as you can see from the picture above he didn’t really trust that I was giving him something good…then he immediately grabbed the towel and started wiping it off.
Party poopers!
I hope your kids are a little more “game” for having stripes.
You can also check out my past Virtual Book Club posts on Dr. Seuss and Julia Donaldson.
