My kids are super interested in plants and animals. They love learning little facts too so I thought finding some fun Earth Day activities would help them understand the importance of taking care of the Earth.
Earth Day is the perfect time to remind them how they can do little things every day to help all those plants and animals they love so much.
Earth Day Activities for Kids
Free Printables
Earth Day Bingo – Last year I made these fun bingo cards as a way to build vocabulary around topics to talk about this month. There are two versions of the game.
Save the Earth game – I also made a free printable game that is a lot like Candy Land™ but uses those same icons from the bingo game and is a good continuation.
Coffee Filter Earth – Katie’s Crochet Goodies has a cute (and easy) way to make the Earth from a coffee filter.
Trash Sorting Activity – This is fun way to talk about what things go in the trash and what can be recycled.
Flip Book – The First Grade Parade has TONS of ideas, but also this free cause and effect flip book.
Crafts
Hands Around the World – This is a super cute craft that uses the kids hand prints to “hold” the Earth.
Crayons & Playdough – The Gunny Sack has some great recipes to make crayons and playdough.
Shaving Cream & Glue Earth – No Time for Flashcards has a fun, albeit messy, craft for using shaving cream and glue to make an Earth.
Egg Carton Tree – This adorable recycled “tree” is such a cute craft from Glued to My Crafts blog.
Mr. Recycle Head Man – This is a cute way to recycle and grow your own plant at the same time from Delia Creates.
Treats
Earth Day Treats – Here’s a round up of 12 fun treats you and the kids can make to help celebrate.
Dirt Cups – These are a classic snack, but always fun to eat worms and dirt. Check out Eat at Allie’s version.
Sprouting Cupcakes – These are absolutely adorable. You have to see them. Make sure you send these to school so everyone can see how cute they are! From Oh Cupcakes.
Cake Pops – These Earth cake pops from Heavenly Cake Pops are too cute.
Truffula Seeds – This treat from Lollipops & Paper is a cute and easy snack that the kids could eat while listening or watch The Lorax.
