Easy Crafts for Kids Using Straws

Last week my kids were bugging me to make them a musical instrument. So I got this great idea to make a flute out of straws, but I couldn’t get them to stand still long enough to get a good picture.

It was a quick, easy craft for kids and they thought it was super cool for about 15 minutes.

But it got me thinking…there must be tons of easy crafts for kids out there using straws. So this is a collection of some of the ones I found:

Relentlessy Fun, Deceptively Educational has a great tutorial, as well as a book and writing idea to go with it. I love it when you can create a little momento from a story to help solidify them in a child’s mind. Click the image to go to the tutorial.

The Imagination Tree has a great idea of putting lots of things in a box and letting your child explore. This one is great for eye/hand coordination and although she used it for her toddler…I’m thinking kids of all ages might have a good time with this one. Click the image to check it out yourself.

Inner Child Fun has an amazing tutorial for how to make actual flying rockets using straws and paper. I’m thinking that my kids would need some rules about where they could aim these, but I bet they’d have fun…until one of the dogs decides to eat it!

All for the Boys created a twist on your average paper airplane by adding a straw. I can’t wait to try this one. She says that it works better than a paper airplane!

Which one are you going to try first?
