I am super excited to be a Fit Foodie Ambassador for the Austin weekend. All opinions are 100% my own.
Believe it or not…I have actually completed a marathon (26.2 miles).
In 2004 my roommate decided that she was going to train for one and would get up each Saturday to go and meet a local group to walk around parts of downtown Austin…while I stayed in bed.
When she got up to doing 8 miles or more on the weekends, I started feeling bad that she was walking for hours without anyone to talk to…so I started going with her.
When race day came, she ended up sick and could only do the half marathon and I ended up walking the full marathon (maintaining a 15 minute mile for all 26 miles)…
and almost passing out at the finish line.
To this day, it is still one of the biggest accomplishments of my life…and something I aspire to do again (well at least the half).
When the opportunity came up for me to be involved in The Fit Foodie 5k Race Weekend here in Austin, I knew this was my chance to get started with races again.
