The holidays are such a pretty time of year. Everything seems so festive and light.
You get to meet up with friends and family that you don’t always get to see and you decide you’ll worry about your diet next month!
But all the work to get the house ready for this time of year seems a little overwhelming (of course normal cleaning is a bit overwhelming to me…lol).
This year I thought it would be fun to make a cute printable to help me (and you) keep track of all that I need to do before the guests get here!
Holiday Cleaning
With three kids and three dogs…my floors take a beating. As you can see from my checklist…3 of my to-dos had to do with floors. (You can print out the cleaning checklist here.)
I’m always REALLY worried that the house smells like dog…and with an 80lbs black lab…it usually does.
So I spend a ton of time and effort trying to de-funkify it. I honestly believe that if your house smells good…people will think it’s cleaner (totally a cleaning hack, right?)
Get the Stink Out
1. Vacuum Often – My first tip for having a better smelling house is to vacuum often.
2. Keep It Cooler – If you keep the temperature in your house a little cooler PLUS keep the fans running, the air has a chance to circulate and not get stagnate…and doggy!
3. Brew Your Own Potpourri – I love the smell of apples and cinnamon…especially in the Fall. Try this recipe for a stove top potpourri and your guests will never know you have a dog!
4. Deep Clean Carpets Quarterly – We have a BISSELL Pro Heat deep cleaner made esp for pets plus we use the BISSELL Deep Clean Pet formula with Scotchgard Protector (which actually helps repel future dirt…and therefore stink).
