When I was a classroom teacher, I would come home in the early weeks of the school year and my feet would be screaming! It’s a harsh change to go from sitting around binge watching Netflix to chasing 22 six year olds around all day.

I thought this would be the perfect time to share my favorite homemade foot soak recipe to help all those teachers who are in the thick of a new school year!

Homemade Foot Soak

Not only is this recipe designed to help relax your feet and your entire body, but the epsom salts in it give you some added magnesium in a form that is easily absorbed by your body.

So go ahead and pamper yourself…you’re doing great things for both your body and your mind with this foot bath.

Ingredients

1 cup Epsom Salt (I like Dr. Teal’s Soothe & Sleep)

1 cup sea salt (I use Morton’s Natural Sea Salt)

1 cup baking soda (buy the big one so you always have some one hand)

5 drops of lavender essential oil

3 drops of peppermint essential oil

1 mason jar (always use glass because essential oils can break down plastic over extended periods)

Water proof container large enough for both your feet to fit in. (I like to use a foot spa since it’s designed for just this purpose.)

Towel

Directions

1.Mix the epsom salt, sea salt and baking soda in the jar. Add in the lavender and peppermint essential oils, close the lid and shake.

2. Add the warmest water you can stand to your foot bath container. Place 1/2 cup of your mixture into the water and stir. Sometimes I add leaves from my peppermint plant and dried lavender buds to make it extra pretty and fragrant.

3. Soak your feet for at least 10 minutes. (Try to do this in a calm space…I know for some of us that’s hard to find.)

4. Repeat as often as needed!

This mix would make a GREAT teacher gift idea too! Add a cute little label to the jar.

How do you soothe sore feet?

PS – I am not a doctor. Just sharing what works for me. If you are pregnant or have other health concerns, be sure to check with your doctor prior to using this recipe.
