I admit…I’ve been spending a LOT of time on Pinterest lately. BUT…I’ve found some really cool stuff that I want to be able to share with y’all. (So be sure and follow me on Pinterest!)

While I’m not the craftiest person around, I do so want to be! The other day I was looking for some St. Patrick’s Day crafts and I came across a really cool one for how to make a rag wreath from The Magic of Ordinary Things and I thought, “I can TOTALLY do that!”

But I wanted mine to be a little more year round and not just for one holiday, so I chose a little bit different fabric.

How to Make a Rag Wreath

Assemble Materials:

Before you start you’re going to need to assemble a few materials: white coat hanger, fat quarter fabric bundle, fabric cutting mat, rotary fabric cutter, and matching ribbon.

Step 1:

I used a fat quarter bundle that contained 5 different fabrics. I took each fabric and cut it into 1″ x 10″ strips (as many as I could get out of that piece…it just depended probably 20-30 strips each).

Step 2:

I asked my husband to stretch the wire hanger into a circle. It wasn’t perfect, but since you’re covering it up…that didn’t matter.

Then I tied the strips of fabric into a knot onto the hanger (as evenly as possible). I did it in a specific pattern so that all of the different fabrics were evenly placed. It’s very easy to scoot them around too if you mess up or want to add something else.

I continued to tie them on until I felt there were no holes where the hanger would show through. Then I moved them forward on the hanger and fluffed them out a bit.

Step 3:

I tied the complementary ribbon into a bow at the base of the hanger hook/top of the wreath. I also tied a length of ribbon to hang it from onto a towel bar in my bathroom that we don’t use so I could have it there for decoration.
