I have always wanted to be a writer. In today’s Amazon age, it’s super easy to become published – I actually have 4 books on Amazon myself.  But I don’t really consider any of them my great master piece.

I am one of those people that needs to sit and have time to write and get my creative juices flowing, but as a work at home mom – that time doesn’t really exist.

A couple of months ago I was asked to review a book called How to Write Your Memoir in 30 Days and since it struck my inner wannabe writer cord, I agreed.

How to Write a Memoir in 30 Days

What Worked For Me

Step by Step – Since my life is so chaotic and finding time to actually sit and write is difficult, I really liked that this was broken down into 30 smaller steps to help keep me focused on one thing at a time.

Thought Provoking Tasks – I felt that each of the tasks really helped to get me in the right space to explain how I was feeling and get it down on paper.

Felt Cathartic – For me, I feel that my real story that needs to be shared is our path to and down the road of adoption. But for me to really tell that story, I had to go back through some painful memories. When I was going through some of the tasks, I really felt that it was helping me to deal with some of the issues that I faced during those darker times.

What Didn’t Work For Me

Each “day” really seemed like almost a week’s worth of writing to me. Some of those early tasks were pretty intensive for me too. I ended up stopping after about 6 “days” because, right now, my focus isn’t on writing a memoir.

But when I’m ready, you can bet that I’ll go right back to How to Write a Memoir in 30 Days to help keep me on track.

Do you have any grand dreams of publishing your “story”?
