With my new eating plan, comes new adventures.

Yesterday was my birthday and I asked for a food dehydrator…I know, I know…never ask for an appliance, but I really wanted it.

It came on Wednesday so yesterday I busted it out decided to try a super easy recipe at first – Kale Chips.

Kale Chips

These were really pretty easy to make and since I’d known that it was coming I bought some kale ahead of time.

I found this recipe and it just said to basically wash the kale, cover it in olive oil and place in the dehydrator for 4 hours. (I did get some Facebook advice that said to try adding sea salt and Parmesean cheese too).

Since it was my first time, I messed up. There’s a timer and the recipe said to put it on a higher level for just 1 hour and the timer didn’t have 1 hour…just 2. So it turned off and I didn’t know it.

They seemed a bit chewy…and I think that’s why…but the kids loved them! As they were eating them I kept thinking, “I wonder how many people have gotten their kids to eat kale – and ask for more?”

I’m using the Excaliber 5 drawer dehydrator and I CAN’T wait to make more things! The kids are begging for banana chips next.
