Today at Baby Signs® story time at Toy Time we read the book The Lady with the Alligator Purse.
Each week I like to do our regular songs (which the kids have come to love and sing with) then we read a book and finally do a craft activity.
The Lady with the Alligator Purse is a cute little book about a hungry little boy that has a fun song that goes with it. It’s a repetitive book that you can teach a few signs and the kids can follow along and feel like they are really being good signers.
Finding the book is usually not the hard part each week. It’s finding a craft that is appropriate for kids from 4 months to 8 yrs old that only takes 10 min max.
Looking around on the web I found a site called Free Kids Crafts. It’s a great craft site specifically for kids. Plus they post a new craft EVERY DAY! Most of their crafts don’t require anything too random and some even have a free printable to help you with the craft.
Back to the book…
While looking around on this site I found a a pizza printable…and in the book The Lady with the Alligator Purse pizza solves all the problems!
Free Kids Crafts has a color and a black and white pizza printable with 4 different kinds of toppings. The kids thought it was fun and it was a good take away for the book.
Also if you go to Reverbnation.com you can find an artist by the name of Johnette Downing singing The Lady with the Alligator Purse. (Just click on the play arrow next to the title.)
Just a quick little activity for a fun song and book that I will warn you…will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day!
