When we went to Denver last month, there was a BAD cold going around. My niece had a runny nose when we first got to my sister’s house and by the end of the weekend Maddi did too…plus my sister and I both had sore throats.

With all the medical procedures and time in the hospital, I was covering Maddi’s feet with Purification and Thieves oil each morning and night, but this cold was soo strong that it didn’t seem to help.

I felt it coming on and decided to test out my lavender oil benefits.

Lavender Oil Benefits

There are many benefits to lavender oil. I used it on Maddi from almost the day I got her to help calm her for sleep and medical procedures.

I also diffuse it each morning along with lemon and peppermint for it’s allergy help.

One night I decided I’d gargle with warm salt water (1 cup warm water/1 tsp salt) with 2 drops of lavender oil in it each time I got up with Maddi (She was so sick she couldn’t breathe through the night and I had to give her meds and change her diaper from all the water she was drinking.)

I would say I did it about every 2 hours for about 12 hours. I would just take swig of my batch and gargle (and making sure I tilted my head back and got my throat too).

I never came down with the cold that took out everyone else. Maddi coughed for 4 weeks. My sister and her husband were sick for two weeks.

I only had a slightly sore throat for 2 days.

I hope this helps you as much as it helped me!

Do you use lavender oil?
