Maddi has had a HORRIFIC diaper rash since her second surgery.
Her poor bootie has been bleeding in multiple (like 15) places and no matter what I do, nothing helps.
Every single person you talk to has an opinion about what to do for diaper rash…and I will tell you now I have done them all. I’ve probably spent over $300 on creams and powders. I’ve called the dr and gone in multiple times. I’ve Googled it until my fingers are numb – nothing works.
I’m trying to minimize as many chemicals as I can so I learned how to make homemade baby wipes and I used some of my new essential oils. It’s super easy!
Homemade Baby Wipes
I started by looking around on the web. I found this tutorial from Southern Savers but I tweaked it a bit.
I started by gathering all my materials:
Dr. Bronner’s Citrus Castille Soap
Coconut Oil
Select-a-Size Paper Towels
Glass Jar
Step 1 – Warm up 2 cups of water how ever you wish. (I used the microwave for 1 minute) Then add 1 teaspoon Dr. Bronner’s soap and 1 tsp coconut oil to the water and mix. Set that aside to cool.
Step 2 – Cut the roll of paper towels in half using a sharp knife.
Step 3 – Pull the carboard out of the inside of the roll you are going to use now and put the other roll in a safe place.
Step 4 – Add 5 drops of lavender oil and 5 drops of tea tree oil (to help prevent molding) to the water mixture.
Step 5 – Shove the towels into the glass jar.
Step 6 – Pour the mixture over the towels in the jar. Close the jar and let the towels absorb the mixture for 15 minutes before using.
We used these really quickly since Maddi was having so many accidents so they never had a chance to mold. If you child has super sensitive skin, you may want to forgo the tea tree oil, but Maddi has had no troubles with it at all.
And although she’s still going to much to really see any improvement using these, at least I feel like I’m doing everything I can to minimize the irritation.
