This month’s Virtual Book Club for Kids author is Marcus Pfister. He is best known for his book The Rainbow Fish (and the sequels to that) about a fish with shiny scales that learns to make friends with other fish.
But he also has quite a few other books (click here to see them) that are well worth your time!
Before my boys were into Legos, they were into dinosaurs. So when we found Dazzle the Dinosaur, I knew that was the book for us!
Dazzle the Dinosaur by Marcus Pfister
Dazzle the Dinosaur is actually a great adoption story. Mrs. Maiasaurus comes back to her nest to find an extra egg in it. She decides to keep it and when it hatches they see that it’s a special dinosaur with shiny spine fins along his back (sound familiar to any of Marcus Pfister’s other stories?).
The two baby dinosaurs become best friends and set out on adventures every day and meet lots of other very friendly dinos. One day Maia tells Dazzle a story about the Maiasauruses former, much safer, home. They decide to take back the family home by scaring off the mean Dragonsaurus who lives there now. Of course, Dazzle saves the day.
Since Dazzle’s name had a short a sound in it, I thought that reviewing short vowel sounds would be good practice for my preschooler (and a good review for my Kindergartener) so I created these fun free printables for them (and you!).
