Somehow Summer snuck up on me. Connor has a half day of Kindergarten left and then he’ll be home ALL SUMMER LONG.

I knew I had to come up with something to keep the kids busy and me from going insane, so I came up with nine Mommy Summer Camp themes: Pirates, Dinosaurs, Creepy Crawlies, Wild West, Space, Safari, Mysteries and Fairy Tales.

Each week, I’ll post activities to do on the given them. Hopefully they’ll help you stay sane and the kids can have some fun!

This first week is going to be Pirate Activites!

Pirate Activities

Craft Ideas

DIY Pirate Ship – Red Ted Art gives you the dimensions to cut out of cardboard to make your own pirate ship. This should keep y’all busy for a while!

Egg Carton Treasure Box – Nurture Store has some fun ideas to make your own pirate treasure box.

Hook’s Hook – Inna’s Creations has a quick and easy tutorial for how to make a hook.

Snacks

Apple Pie-rate Ship – These homemade apple pies shaped like pirate ships are adorable. My kids would love to help make these.

Pirate Booty – My kids are seriously addicted to this stuff. It’s a rice/corn puff that you can find in the snack aisle at the store…if you dare!

Watermelon Ship – If you’re really feeling crafty, check out this watermelon ship on Three Blind Wives.

Outdoor Play

Walk the Plank – Hostess with the Mostess has a picture of a fun “walk the plank” idea that would be a big hit on hot summer days. She’s got some other fun ideas too so check out all the images.

Dig for Treasure – Here Come the Girls buried pirate treasure in the sand box and then had her kids dig for it. Super fun!

Backyard Treasure Hunt – My Kids’ Adventures used a Minecraft theme, but you could easily switch it to pirates to create a backyard real-life treasure hunt. She’s got some examples of clues too. This will be a fun one!

Indoor Play

Pirate Printables – I created a Pirate Bingo game on this post. There’s also a writing activity.

Build Up Summer Learning – 3Dinosaurs.com started her summer learning with Pirates too. She’s got printables for ages 2-7.

Montessori Themed Activities – EveryStarIsDifferent.com has a great list of Montessori-themed activities for ages 2-7 too.

Field Trip

We’re going to go visit the Austin Aquarium and check out the pirates there.
