I hope you enjoyed our Week 1 Pirate Activities. We actually haven’t gotten a chance to do any of them yet because Connor had school until Thursday, family was in town for the weekend and now the two boys are in camp. But they’ll be home for the next few weeks, so we’re looking forward to doing some of these fun activities.
My kids LOVE dinosaurs. A couple of summers ago we went to the local Dinosaur Park every single week. And in between those trips, we watched Dinosaur Train…over and over and over. So I know that these activities are going to be a hit with them!
Dinosaur Activities
Craft Ideas
– Dinosaur Masks – Print, color and cut out your very own dino masks.
– Dino Crafts – This page is a little hard to read, but if you scroll down you’ll find a number of dinosaur crafts that I’m sure your kids will enjoy.
– Paper Plate Dinos – 5 different templates to help you create your favorite dinosaur.
Snacks
– Dinosaur Sandwiches – This cute dinosaur sandwich cutter can be used for sandwiches and treats.
– Dinosaur Bones – I made these “bone” treats for Halloween but they’d be a fun dinosaur bone treat too.
– Dino Party – Place of My Taste had a fun dino themed party and has tons of treat ideas.
Outdoor Play
– Make a Toyrarium – Last year the boys and I made a toyrarium and put some of our dinosaurs in there to live. It was lots of fun and gave the kids something to care for.
– Dino Dig – This looks like so much fun. Freeze some of your favorite dino toys and shells in a bin of water and let the kids go to town trying to “unearth” them.
– Dino Mud – Fun at Home with Kids has a fun, yet messy, make your own mud activity. Might be a great one to show what it would have been like to get stuck in a mud pit.
Indoor Play
– Vowel Hunt – I created some short vowel dinosaur hunt free printables that are great for beginning readers.
– Dinosaur Printable Pack – Cassie at 3Dinosaurs has a really big dinosaur printable pack that has tons of activities.
– Montessori-Inspired Dino Unit – Loads of great, educational activities to explore and learn about dinosaurs.
Field Trip
We will probably go to the local Dinosaur Park again this summer. But we may take a small trip up to Glen Rose for the bigger park…if I’m feeling adventurous.
Hopefully all these fun dinosaur activities will give you hours of play.
