Zoo Animal Activities

Craft Ideas

30 + Zoo Crafts – Parenting Chaos has a list of crafts for the various zoo animals. These will definitely keep you busy.

Handprint Animals – Fun Handprint Art Blog has loads of ideas for handprint animals.

African Animal Crafts – Danielle’s Place has a list of crafts for African animals (my favorite part of the zoo).

Snacks

Animal Crackers – Grab a bag of animal crackers and let your child play with their food.

Zoo Animal Cut Out Cookies – These cookie cutters are a fun afternoon activity plus a fun treat!

Zoo Animal Pretzel Pops – If you’re up for a real challenge, these are super cute and would definitely go over well.

Outdoor Play

Backyard Games – Kid Activities has a long list of fun (little to no prep) outdoor games to play.

Go On Safari  – Print out one of these pages and then post the pictures around the back yard. Give you child a pair of binoculars and pretend to go on safari and see what animals you find.

Pin the Tail on the Zebra – Print out this fun game and get the whole family in on this one.

Indoor Play

Printable Pack – 3 Dinasours has a Zoo Pack great for kids from 2-7 and perfect for those hot summer days.

Animal Habitats – We used some scrapbook paper and a Zoo Toob to sort the animals into their native habitats.

All Kinds of Printables – Busy Bee Printables has a list of tons of different kinds of printables from coloring pages to mazes and books and more!

Field Trip

On of our favorite field trips is to the zoo. Austin’s “zoo” is really more of an animal rescue center and on the other side of town from us. There’s another animal rescue center we frequent out in Cedar Creek called the Capital of TX Zoo. We also like to drive to Waco or San Antonio for the larger zoos.

Hopefully all these fun zoo animal activities will give you hours of play. Follow me on Pinterest for more ideas!
