ABCmouse.com Early Learning Academy is a really cool subscription based website for preschoolers to help them learn about letters, words, colors, etc while having fun.
Now they’ve come out with a new video app to add to their growing collection of apps in iTunes. (I cannot find any listed for android, but I’ll update if I do.)
Their newest app is a collection of 26 videos…one for each letter of the alphabet…called Letter Songs A-Z. They are cute, well made videos that keep the child engaged for the few minutes they are playing and remind me a little of Schoolhouse Rock! videos.
Letter Songs A-Z
The app comes with 3 free videos (A,B and C) and a beginning balance of 100 tickets (ABCmouse.com uses a ticket reward system and allows the child to “redeem” them for more fun activities). After watching each video, the child is rewarded with more tickets that can be saved and used to “buy” the next video.
Technically, the app is free and no purchase is required to watch all the videos. You receive the first 3 free and each subsequent video “costs” 50 tickets.
We were able to “earn” 6 tickets by watching the first 3 videos once and since they give you 100 tickets to start with, we were able to”buy” 2 more videos. You earn 2-3 tickets for each video, so you’d have to watch each video 3 times in order to earn enough tickets to “buy” the next. That’s really not such a big deal since my kids love to rewatch things anyway.
You can also buy more tickets. You get 100 tickets for $.99, 500 for $2.99 or you can download all 26 videos for $4.99 which I think is a pretty good deal for a well made app that is educational.
Evan really enjoyed this app and I love pretty much anything ABCmouse.com does, so this one was a win for all!
