its official

Sorry I didn’t get a chance to get this post up yesterday, but here’s my recap of Day 5.

First thing, we went back to the registration office (where we initially met the babies). We stood around and they called our names and handed us these certificates making the babies officially ours. YAY!

registration

Then we piled back on the bus to go to the Notary to get our paperwork notarized in order to apply for the passport.

Most of the time we have no idea what’s going on. We just meet at the designated spot, get on the bus, get off the bus, go where they tell us, sign where they tell us, pay the fee they tell us and then back on the bus.

After this, most of the families got to just hang out for the rest of the day. We didn’t get that lucky. We had to drive 2.5 hours with another family to Luoyang to apply for the babies’ passports.

While we were there, a nanny brought in another baby and I immediately recognized her! This new baby lived with Maddi, is 4 days older than Maddi and has the same special need. Her family will be coming in 2 weeks for her!

It was so amazing to come all this way to China, decline going to the orphanage since Maddi has been grieving so hard, but to get to see the one baby I know!

We got to talk to the nannies and get pictures with them and the other baby. Truly amazing!

Then we made the 3.5 hours trek back (traffic). By the time we got back to the hotel room we just wanted to crash.

Luckily we have the next 4 days off!
