A few years ago I went to see a nutritionist when I started having some of my medical issues. She recommended that I have a smoothie for breakfast every day. I must admit…that takes some getting used to. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t.
When Maddi first came home, I used smoothies to try and get some weight on her. I could add protein powder to help get her through those days when she’d only eat Goldfish!
I’m working on getting more fruits and veggies into all of us these days, so I’ve gone back to trying to find a breakfast smoothie they all like…it’s been a struggle.
Orange Pear Smoothie
The boys didn’t like this one (of course I made them stop playing video games to try it, so that may have contributed to their dismay), but Maddi and I did.
This would be a good one to add some vanilla protein powder to too.
This is a great recipe to get started cooking with kids. They can start to learn about measurement and will of course love eating what they've cooked.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup pear juice
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
- 4 ice cubes
Instructions
- Put everything into your blender and mix for 30 seconds.
