I had a long hard week this week and I just didn’t feel too up to cooking. I thought that it might be helpful to see what kinds of snacks my kids like the most these days.

We have that eternal mother/child battle over something healthy versus something that tastes good.

They typically get a treat (we’re still working on Halloween Candy…LOL) maybe once a day at most. If they forget to ask after dinner, then I “forget” to give them one. They’re typical treat is a few candy corn or a small sucker.

Our Favorite Snacks

Pirate Booty – This is actually a new one. The boys really like it. Maddi wants to like it, but really doesn’t.

Cheese Sticks – These are so easy to grab quickly and the protein stays in their bellies longer.

Grapes – I think Maddi could eat these all day long.

Apples – This is my new sit in the stroller and eat this while we go pick up your brother from school snack. She loves them and sits happily! Win-Win!

Kind Bars – Since I’ve been trying to move everyone to a more gluten free life, these have been a big hit. We all love them! My only complaint is that only 5 come in a box and we go through a few boxes a week.

Goldfish – I really need to learn to make these so I can make them gluten free. They are all addicted to them.

Graham Crackers – I keep these in a baggie in my purse for emergency snacks. Maddi eats almost every waking minute so I usually have to find something or risk the wrath of Grumperella!

I’ve got a great post on 5 Healthy School Lunch Ideas too!

Kids in the Kitchen

Did you have fun in the “kitchen” this week? Did you try a new food or a new kid friendly restaurant? Did your littlest ones use their snacks to count to 10? We invite you to share your experiences, photos, stories or recipes that include your #kidsinthekitchen. Come join me and my co-hosts Melinda at Look What Mom Found, Paula at Frosted Fingers and Sara at Sensibly Sara, each week linking up a post, new or old, that feature the theme Kids in the Kitchen. It doesn’t matter what you are doing as long as you are doing it together, enjoying it and learning something along the way.
