I admit, I have a slight addiction to potatoes. I think it’s just one of those things about my body where it turns them to sugar very quickly….making me SOOOO happy when I eat them.
As much as I love potatoes, my kids hate them. Now don’t get me wrong, they won’t turn away from french fries, but rarely do they finish them (which just means more for me). But I CANNOT get them to eat potatoes at home no matter how I make them…until now.
These did not stay in the house long. I had to gobble them up hot right off the cookie sheet before the kids came in and swarmed on them.
I know that I’m trying to be good with my diet…and I am by making these homemade fries, but I did use some Lawry’s Seasoned Salt on these (instead of making a homemade seasoning) and was SOOOOO good. You could use any kind of seasoning you want…don’t skip this step! At least use a little sea salt.
This was also one of those recipes where I could let the kids help…although I think they need a little more help with “sprinkle” since some of the potato wedges had mounds of salt on them and some had none.
Oven Roasted Potato Fries
Ingredients
- 1 large baking potato
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 bottle of Lawry's Seasoned Salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
- Clean your potato.
- Cut a small slice in one of the long sides to create a flat surface to make cutting easier.
- Cut 1/4 inch slanted slices from the potato. (These do not have to be exact. Just cut away.)
- Put the olive oil into a medium sized bowl.
- Place the slices in the bowl and mix to coat each piece with oil.
- Put a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
- Place the potato slices on the cookie sheet making sure the thicker pieces are on the outside and none are touching. (You may have to do two rounds.)
- Sprinkle the Lawry's Seasoned Salt on each slice.
- Place in the oven for 10 minutes.
- Remove the cookie sheet (be careful it's hot) and using tongs flip each slice over.
- Sprinkle more Lawry's Seasoned Salt on the other side.
- Place back in the oven for 15 more minutes.
- Remove and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Eat fast so the kids don't get them all!
Run, don’t walk, to go and make these! You won’t regret it!
