Last year I found some really cute ideas for cakes and cupcakes with an Easter theme.  So I paired them to make this sugar overloaded scene you see here.

I’m not really a fan of Peeps, but my kids are…and with all the other sugary goodness…there’s something for everyone.

Both projects were really very easy. You’ll spend most of your time waiting for them to bake.

Peeps CakePeeps Cake

I saw a similar cake on Cake Central.  I decided to make mine 2 layers since my peeps were kind of tall. I like how they look like they’re protecting the M&M’s.

I used Wilton Aluminum Performance Pans Set of 2 9-Inch Round Cake Set to make a 2 layer cake with butter cream icing.  I put the cake on a Wilton 10-Inch Cake Circle so that it had a stable foundation to carry it to the party I was going to.

Then I took a Marshmallow Peeps Yellow Easter Bunnies 12ct package and placed them around the outside of the cake. I probably should have used 2 packages, but I only had one at the time and didn’t feel like going back to the store.

Next I put some M&M’s Chocolate Candies Bunny Mix, Milk Chocolate on top.

Cupcakes

I used a cute Easter Bunny Cupcake Kit   for the cupcake liners and the Wilton No. 233 Multi-Opening Decorating Tip to make the “grass” on top and then just plopped some Easter Whoppers Mini Robin Eggs on top.

I made the cake with just a regular cake mix, but I used a gluten free cake mix for the cupcakes so it was equal opportunity sugar rush.

What else have you done with peeps?
