What kid doesn’t think pirates are cool? (The pretend ones…not the real ones.)

My kids love to watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates and act out all the story lines. We even found a stuffed crocodile at the aquarium last week and Maddi had to have it. Guess what it’s name is? Yep, Tic Toc Croc.

I’ve been trying to come up with some fun children’s book activities to share here and I knew that pirate activities had to be among the top ones that my kids, and hopefully yours, would love!

In order to really get into the whole theme, the very first thing that you’re going to need to do is to make some pirate eye patches while perfecting your “Arrr!” and “Matey”.

Then you’ll want to print and color these pirate popsicle stick puppets so you can act out all the stories you’re going to read and make up.

There Was an Old Pirate Who Swallowed a Fish – A cute take off on The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.

Pirate Pete – A cute book with a swashbuckling pirate that your kids will be able to chime in on the repetitive pattern.

The Pirate and the Star (only $0.99 on Kindle) – Another adventuring pirate tale that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

The Littlest Pirate (only $0.99 on Kindle) – Perfect pirate book for young readers.

I created two versions of this pirate bingo game so you could play with more than one child. You could also just print out both copies, cut them out and play a matching/memory game.

This pirate writing prompt will help your child put their excitement into words and pictures. I’d bet that they could do this one every day and their answer would be different.
