Let me set the scene for you…
I’m at the movies. I order a ginormous popcorn and drink and before the movie starts I think “I better go to the bathroom or I’ll never be able to drink this.”
So I go to the restroom. It’s 12:15pm on a Saturday afternoon so the theater isn’t too busy.
I go into the 2nd stall on the left (figuring that most people will have gone into the first one and the second one is less likely to be completely disgusting). But there are 14 stalls so I really have my pick of the place since I’m the only person in there.
I just get my pants undone, start to hover and hear someone walk in.
She comes in and goes in the first stall.
The one RIGHT next to me.
Seriously?
There are a ton of other stalls to choose from, but you have to chose the one right next to the one that is already taken.
Why don’t they teach restroom etiquette in school?
While I’m on the subject let’s discuss one more thing it’s not okay to do in a public restroom…talk on your phone.
One day many years ago the teachers from my work went out to eat and the principal came with us.
I had to go to the restroom. When I got in there I realized that she was already in there. I had no choice but to go into the stall right next to her.
Then I discovered…
she was on the phone with…
wait for it…
her insurance agent…
discussing her most recent speeding ticket.
Really?
A) Don’t talk on the phone WHILE you’re using the restroom.
2) Don’t talk on the phone while I’m using the restroom.
And finally cell phones are pretty advanced. I’m pretty sure they can pick up the sound of toilets flushing!
Just because you can…doesn’t mean you should!
