Today was pretty much a free day so our guide arranged some tours and shopping for us.
First we went to the Six Banyan Buddhist Temple. It was so peaceful and beautiful.
These Buddha’s represent past, present and future.
The Buddha in this temple is the one for baby’s. We were hoping she could help wrangle our baby dragon…no such luck!
Next we went to a museum. They had these beautiful scrolls. I bought this one with peonies on it, the flower of China, and he is writing Maddi’s Chinese name on it…very cool!
This man was painting beautiful scenes all by finger painting! I bought a cherry blossom one for Maddi’s room.
Last we went to a shop to get traditional Chinese outfits for the babies for a group photo on Thursday. I also got a beautiful jade bangle bracelet and a jade pendant with silver Chinese characters that represent mother and daughter on it.
The jade bracelet was a bit of an extravagance, but I love it! It is supposed to be worn at all times…which is good because it took 2 ladies and some lotion to squeeze it onto my arm…and left a bruise on my hand! They didn’t think anything of it! LOL
Anyway, jade is supposed to help balance your chi. It’s supposed to get shinier and bring you good health as you wear it. It’s also supposed to be good luck and protection. Jade is passed from generation to generation too so I’m excited to have an heirloom.
Plus…I just LOVE bracelets!
We went out for a traditional Cantonese dinner tonight. It was good.
Maddi caused a scene grabbing things and spilled some hot tea on herself. Then she got really quiet and just sat and ate. Not sure what happened, but hopefully she’s learning what she can and can’t do.
We all had to sit at the table for a long time waiting for her to finish eating. Then in true toddler fashion…she came home and had more!
Tomorrow morning is our Consulate appt where we take the oath of citizenship for them! Big Day!
