I got a new toy yesterday, a Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine, and I have absolutely no idea how to make it do all the things my mind can imagine!
I have been dying to decorate the walls in our house with some vinyl lettering. I think it’s cool, but man is it expensive. So I thought, “I can do it myself!” (I also believe I can do back flips in my mind, but that’s not really possible…on purpose anyway.) I used to scrapbook and I’m getting handier with the computer (I do have this blog now) so I went ahead and got one with the proceeds from selling all of my baby equipment.
I was able to get it out of the box and hook it up to the computer. I made the first project, a control panel cover, and then I got kind of stuck. I found a really cool blog, Under a Cherry Tree, where she has a ton of ideas, but she uses a different software most of the time so I’m still not quite sure of where to start. I also found a really cool website, Lettering Delights, that has a ton of images that you can purchase to use with the machine. I have figured out how to purchase and download those images, but I can’t figure out how to get them into the software Library. So again…stuck.
Still in search of a first project, I turned to the Silhouette America site and found directions for a thank you card. I made that…it took at least an hour and a half…and you can judge for yourself. Not too bad, but not too great either! I guess I’ll go search for another project!
