Sorting Candy Hearts

After making our cute Valentine Candy Heart Ornament earlier in the week, we had a bunch of candy hearts lying around.

It occurred to me that this might make a great toddler activity…aka keep her busy and not screaming!

I dumped all the candy hearts in the top of the egg carton.

Then I tried to show her how to put the same colors in the same compartments…naming the colors as we went along.

She totally didn’t get it.

We’ve been working on ‘same’ because she tends to bring me two different shoes when she wants to go some where.

So we’ll have to keep working on this one.

But it was a great fine motor activity and as you can see the boys (yes, he’s dressed as a ninja) were ALL OVER this…begging to eat some.

I got a phone call and Maddi decided to put all the hearts back in the bag. When I got them out a bit later to see if she’d do the activity again…a few were wet! She must have wanted to taste one, but not liked it! LOL

Kids in the Kitchen

Did you have fun in the “kitchen” this week? Did you try a new food or a new kid friendly restaurant? Did your littlest ones use their snacks to count to 10? We invite you to share your experiences, photos, stories or recipes that include your #kidsinthekitchen. Come join me and my co-hosts Melinda at Look What Mom Found, Paula at Frosted Fingers and Sara at Sensibly Sara, each week linking up a post, new or old, that feature the theme Kids in the Kitchen. It doesn’t matter what you are doing as long as you are doing it together, enjoying it and learning something along the way.
