I bet you didn’t know that, right? LOL You just thought it was April Fool’s Day and you were ignoring the poor little helpless loaf of sourdough!
When I heard about this “celebration” and the fact that April is National Grilled Cheese Month…I knew I had to pair these two together and find some sourdough sandwich recipes.
My kids are still young and kind of picky eaters and I don’t think I’ve introduced them to the joys of sourdough bread yet. But man did they dig these grilled cheeses. (My oldest asked if I could use “this yummy bread” in his lunch from now on.)
Sourdough Sandwiches
For the kids I made just plain grilled cheese sandwiches, but I used our George Forman grill so it made cool grill marks on both sides of the sandwiches.
For me…I made my sandwich with Brie, spinach and tomato and OY was it good. The cheese was so warm and gooey and all the flavors melded so well.
I did cut off the white outer part of the brie and then cut that piece (about 1/5 of the wheel) in half and it was perfect. I was thinking about adding some pesto or avocado to it…maybe next time.
