As a former teacher, I have some idea of what gifts go over well and which ones do not. Yeah, yeah, yeah…it’s the thought that counts, but some thoughts are a little more creative than others (like the year I got a gift certificate to Lowe’s after I just bought a house or the mom that would bring me Starbucks on random days)! LOL

So trying to come up with the perfect teacher gift idea can be a bit tricky. Although my son knows his teacher well, I really don’t (mommy guilt all over that statement!).

Teacher Gift Idea - Apple Cupcakes | Play 2 Learn with Sarah

I love cupcakes and a few years ago I came across a book called What’s New, Cupcake? by Karen Tack and Alan Richardson. It’s got tons of SUPER cute, and fairly easy, ideas for cupcakes for all occasions.

These apple cupcakes win you tons of creativity points and really fairly simple. You just take regular old cupcakes and put some frosting on top. Then you cut a mini donut in half and put that on top of the cupcake and frost all of that. Then roll the cupcake in red sprinkles. Then you use Laffy Taffy for the leaf and a half a Tootsie Roll for the stem.

Wah-lah, you have the perfect teacher gift idea!

Kids in the Kitchen

Did you have fun in the “kitchen” this week? Did you try a new food or a new kid friendly restaurant? Did your littlest ones use their snacks to count to 10? We invite you to share your experiences, photos, stories or recipes that include your #kidsinthekitchen. Come join me and my co-hosts Melinda at Look What Mom Found, Paula at Frosted Fingers and Sara at Sensibly Sara, each week linking up a post, new or old, that feature the theme Kids in the Kitchen. It doesn’t matter what you are doing as long as you are doing it together, enjoying it and learning something along the way.
