Dinosaur Train

My boys have been obsessed (which is a mild term) with Dinosaur Train lately!

If you haven’t seen Dinosaur Train, then you are really missing something. It’s a great show on PBS that teaches children about all kinds of things with a focus on scientific investigation and pre-school skills.

The one episode that Connor and Evan have been stuck on for the last few weeks is the ones called Dinosaurs A to Z (which is actually 4 episodes, but who’s counting?).

They sing a song listing a different dinosaur for each letter of the alphabet. Then they decide to go around and collect all those dinosaurs (traveling around the world on their train that goes through a time tunnel).

Here’s a video of him “singing” the song:

Connor spent an entire day watching the song on the PBS website and he sings it at least 50 times each day. Then he quizzes us to see if when he says the letter, if we can name the dinosaur…never works out the way he wants.

He’s moved on to having Evan say the letters and then he’ll say the dinosaurs which I LOVE because that gives Evan practice with the order of the alphabet. It’s a win for everyone!

The Dinosaur Park

The Dinosaur Park

We’ve discovered a place called The Dinosaur Park about 30 min away in Cedar Creek, TX.

This place has life sized dinos displayed in the woods behind their store. You walk through the path and come across different dinosaurs all while searching for clues to a scavenger hunt to find different fossils hidden in the woods too.

It’s really a fun place that doesn’t take too long to go through. The boys think that this is the best place on Earth!

We have been there once a week for the last 6 weeks….luckily, I got smart on the 2nd visit and bought passes for all of us.

Not only does The Dinosaur Park have cool dinosaurs in the woods, but they also have a very cool gift shop that is filled with dinosaurs…but most importantly they have a TON of Dinosaur Train toys…which, I suspect, is the real reason why we go there every week…to add to our Dinosaur Train friend collection!

If you’re in the Austin area, it’s definitely worth the drive!
