Why is Losing Weight So Difficult?
I have been on many “diets” over the years…some worked and some didn’t. But they have the same thing in common…eat less and exercise more.
With a trip to China coming *hopefully* in the latter part of this year, I’m starting to get nervous about going alone. I am not as fit as I once was (who is?) and although I lost 20 lbs in 2012, I still have 20 more lbs to go to be at my ideal weight.
Blood Sugar Levels
Last week I was sent a program called the Food Lovers Fat Loss System and I’m SUPER excited to get a chance to review this program for y’all and see if it will work for me.
The program is based on the Glycemic Index and teaching you how to combine foods, in the right proportions, to maximize your metabolism by stabilizing your blood sugar levels.
Maintaining blood sugar levels has always been an issue for me. Up until last year, I actually had hypoglycemic issues (meaning I had to be careful about low blood sugar levels). If I don’t eat often, then I will crash and start to feel jittery and anxious.
Over the years, I discovered that my hormone levels play a big part in my issues so each time I was pregnant I had to be sure I was eating often enough to maintain my levels. Unfortunately, I chose to self medicate with candy and gained A LOT of weight with each pregnancy.
Last year, as I started to speed toward 40, my body changed and I started having issues with my blood sugar being too high. I was actually in the danger zone for pre-diabetes with a fasting rate of 114 (10 yrs earlier it had been 74). I started seeing a nutritionist and learned about how wheat can really affect your blood sugar (and gut) and have been working on being gluten-free (mostly) for the last year.
The Plan
The Food Lovers Fat Loss System is an eating plan…not a diet…which can work for people no matter their dietary issues. It teaches you how to combine foods: Proteins, Fast Carbs and Slow Carbs. You start with a 21 day Metabolism Makeover where they teach you, step by step, how to implement the system. They give you plenty of supporting materials (recipes, ideas, audios for each day) to help you be successful. They even have an online program + app if that works better for you.
Day 1:
Height: 5’3″
Weight: 150lbs
Body Fat %: 29.5 (OMG)
I will be following the program and will update weekly on how it’s going. (I can already tell you drinking water will be my biggest struggle.) The initial phase of the plan is 21 days, or 3 weeks, and then they help you transition to real life with an additional 5 weeks of audio, tips for eating out, recipes, and food journal.
My 8-week goal is to have lost 12 lbs.
Check back in with me each Tuesday to see how it’s going and learn more about the Food Lovers Fat Loss System.
