One of my friends was watching another friend’s house while they were out of town last week. They had a CSA (community supported agriculture) box that she also got to “watch”.
She wasn’t quite sure what to do with some of the ingredients and texted me for some ideas. This made me think that I bet many other people aren’t quite sure what to do with what they find in a CSA box or at the local farmers market.
I’m starting a monthly series called What’s in Season and I’ll update each month (for the next year) with some ideas of what you can shop for (local, organic, in season produce is the healthiest) and some links to recipes you can use for these items!
What’s in Season?
A few years ago I signed up for a local CSA box. I would get the box and wonder what the heck these things were. They had some recipe suggestions, but I ended up cancelling because too much went to waste.
Fast forward 5 years along my healthy living journey…and I have a few more ideas of what to do with the not so common vegetable and even actually like a few of them.

I’d like to challenge you to go to your local farmers market this week and choose a vegetable new to you. Most can be covered with olive and salt and roasted in the oven or sauteed on the stove top. Trust me…you won’t regret it!
What’s you favorite “in season” fruit or vegetable?
